Trouble Truffle
NaNoMoWri Novel by NoShiNo
People who wanna read this.
I don't mean that in a "we've just avoided mortal peril" sense. I mean that in the sense that each of us are truly blessed for simply existing. The more you learn about the universe the more profound that sentiment is.

New year, first page of a new 'Skine.

I left 2009 with bewilderment for everything. People that I thought were my friends changing their skin right in front of me, undressing their disguises like I wouldn't notice.

Sometimes I wonder if there is a magical time in people's lives when they just grow up. But there are all sorts of ridiculous things happening like murders and arson that really proves that some people don't ever really grow up.

My whole fucking life I've been waiting to rise up into a tight social group that was as mature as I was. I have to keep waiting and searching.

I can't believe how disconnected I still feel to humans sometimes. I'm watching your face, all of your changing emotions streak across your features, and I know you better than you know yourself.

I'm racking my imperial stout to secondary fermentation today. I talked to some of the guys at homebrewtalk.com, which is the most useful forum that homebrewers could ever ask for. I made a mistake in brewing the beer. I did a late addition of hops when I wasn't supposed to. Since one ounce of hops didn't boil for the full hour, the hops were under-utilized. This is going to be a different version of an imperial stout. Oh well. I'll still have beer. If I like the result I might intentionally do that again if I ever make the recipe again.

Kat got me a 5 gallon stockpot for Christmas. I am super excited to use it. My brother got me a one gallon kit from Brooklyn Brew Kits, and I'm getting everything I need for that together. I can do an all-grain mash in my kitchen by putting the pot in the oven once it's up to a certain temperature. I'll use that as a trial run for stovetop all-grain brewing. If I mash in two stages and boil in one, I think I can work the process out pretty easily.

LINK.
This happened last night/this morning here in ward three. I lived on Highland last year and I have a bunch of friends who live on all of the streets attacked. It's really terrifying that a thing like this would happen here and I'm so fucking grateful that none of the people that I love have been hurt or killed.

The dead are part of our community though and my heart goes out to their relatives. It makes me so upset and sad when people are malicious. Everyone here is very shaken because there is rarely crime like this here.

Happy Xmas, Andrea! She'll probably be sent out on Tuesday because I have work until then.

Hm. I work all week (except on the 25th) but I don't celebrate any kind of holiday so I intend to have a truly fulfilling day eating too many cookies and playing music loud and drawing pictures and taking naps and reading. Lots to do.

I am catsitting two adorable kitties for my friend Lillie, who will be away for the holidays. I'm pretty excited!!

This time of year always makes me crazy lonely so I'm glad I will have kitties to snuggle!

THE GUINNESS BREWERY CAUGHT FIRE!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I know a lot of beer nerds and homebrewers love to bash Guinness because they feel that there are better stouts out there and Guinness gets all the love. There's an old term among brewers (dating back to the Sumerian Ninkasi worshippers who made the first beer) that describes these people. Haters.
